About Bucharest-Beirut International School
Our school was founded in 2003 and authorized by both Romanian and Lebanese Ministry of Education and starting from 2017 it has become an IB World School, joining the global community of schools that offer the International Baccalaureate – Diploma Programme. Our mission is to build knowledgeable, self-confident and principled students who are willing to take risks and face up challenges, urged by curiosity, integrity and a passion for learning. Hosting children from 2 to 18 years old, BBIS assures long life educational journeys within our institution. Our inquiry-based curriculum ensures that we have both a global perspective and a clear understanding of the place in which we live. We believe that through enquiry, active learning, and the development of emotional intelligence in a safe environment, all students are capable of mastery of knowledge, skills and understanding. BBIS educational programme offers the international community in Bucharest an English taught Lebanese curriculum.
We acknowledge that language is a significant part of each individual’s identity, so we encourage our students to value their mother tongue and to be aware of the importance of language learning. We offer Romanian, Arabic, Turkish and Chinese as first language, and Romanian as a second language to help all students adapt to the culture they live in.
Our school is an authorized school for the International Baccalaureate – Primary Years Programme (PYP) starting December 2021. The PYP is designed for students aged 3 to 12. It is a framework guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry. The PYP is flexible enough to accommodate the demands of most national or local curriculums. We offer our students a variety of After-School Clubs to encourage them to develop their teamwork, leadership, creativity and skills, but also support them educationally.
